July 29, 2015: The Big Brush of Federal Agencies

In another maneuver aimed at putting a group of Citizens in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), the Social Security Administration is preparing to declare that anyone who receives their disability payments through a “representative payee” is deficient and should not be allowed to own guns. The potential group will number 4.2 million and they will be in the same system as felons, drug addicts, illegal immigrants, fugitives, dishonorably discharged service members, domestic abusers, and those judged mentally incompetent.

This story was reported July 18 in the Los Angeles Times. The Federal logic is that anyone who receives benefits in this manner is automatically considered to have “a marked subnormal intelligence, mental illness, incompetency, condition or disease” that makes them ineligible to own a firearm.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has been reporting anyone to the NCIS who has been declared incompetent to manage pension or disability payments and assigned a fiduciary. The Social Security Administration is poised to take the same standard. The only factor being that somebody has been appointed a fiduciary for the person receiving benefits. For that they are being “adjudicated as a mental defective”.

Without individual review, a Federal Agency will strip Second Amendment rights from potentially millions of Citizens. Unelected bureaucrats will accomplish what anti-Second Amendment (anti-self-defense) groups have been attempting for decades to do through legislation.
