Shooters World Tampa converted a former furniture store on Fletcher Avenue in Tampa into a destination location for all things gun. The store and range opened in 2013. The timing was fortuitous, former President Obama was the Gun Salesman of the Year in 2013. The high demand he spurred in the public helped solidify Shooters World as a prominent emporium of guns and gun related merchandise. Continue reading
From Decoration Day to the current last Monday of May Memorial Day, this is a solemn holiday to remember and recognize the sacrifice of those who have died in defense of their country.
My wife and I observed Memorial Day this year by going to our range and firing our own version of a twenty-one gun salute to those who made the last measure of devotion to our country. From there my wife went on to complete her Marksman Qualification in the Winchester/NRA Pistol Qualification. Then she completed two strong side targets for the Marksman First Class Qualification before the sun was starting to heat up our covered shooting bays. Continue reading
One month untill the NRA imposed deadline for teaching or taking the fully instructor led NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. A search within 100 miles of zip code 33559 shows 19 course still being offered before the deadline. There are a few bargains left in this group, Paisley FL for $45, one in Deland for $65, and Ocala for $75, one other for $90. The remainder of the courses seem to be pricing for the rarity of the totally instructor lead course and are charging between 125 to 150 with one course at $200 and on the last day at $240. The NRA Training Department has mandated that the Basic Pistol Shooting course and the FIRST Steps Pistol course be discontinued as of May 15, 2016. In their place the NRA Training Department has designated a “blended” course. The new course is divided into two phases. The first phase is now an online only course managed through an NRA learning management system. The fee for this portion is $60 that is paid directly to the NRA. Continue reading
I’m not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. It doesn’t matter. If anyone points an object that looks like a gun at you, you have the right to respond with deadly force to stop the threat. Unless a prosecutor can prove that you had knowledge that the object was a BB gun, or some other less than lethal object, then you there is legal standing for your actions in self-defense.
